  1. Please turn virtual memory off and reboot while holding the shift key down before proceeding!!! This will insure that all INITs and CDEVs are off while installation takes place. RAM doubler is not compatible with DECK II and should be disabled before installation.

  3. ***Important Note*** - This installer will place the DigiSystem INIT in your extensions folder. If you do not have a supported Digidesign audio card installed in your Macintosh you should trash this extension. After completing the installation you should restart with the Shift key held down once again in order to prevent this extension from loading. Then trash it and reboot.

  21. Macromedia suggests you configure DECK II 2.5 in the following way for your specific Macintosh (using the Memory and Storage preference on the File menu):

  24. Macintosh 840av, 8 tracks
  25. Power Macintosh 6100, 6 tracks
  26. Power Macintosh 7100, 8 tracks
  27. Power Macintosh 7200, 8 tracks
  28. Power Macintosh 7500, 8 tracks (12-16 tracks with array)
  29. Power Macintosh 8100, 12 tracks (16-24 tracks with array)
  30. Power Macintosh 8500, 12 tracks (16-32 tracks with array)
  31. Power Macintosh 9500, 12 tracks (16-32 tracks with array)
  32. PowerBook 500 family, 2 tracks

  41. TIPS ON INSTALLING AND RUNNING DECK II
  42.  
  43. Remember:  You will always achieve better performance if you record to a hard disk that does NOT contain your active System folder. 
  44.  
  45. Special Note:  DECK II now has a new installation procedure.  All installation is automatic, so NO Extras diskette is required, and NO DECK Resources file is needed.  'Validation-style' copy protection has been removed.

  47. Special Note: DECK II™ 2.5 now requires version 3.1 or higher of the Sound Manager (included in the installer). Sound Manager 3.2 is coded into Apple's System Software 7.5.3 so you will not need this extension if you are running 7.5.3.

  49. Special Note for Power Macintosh, 660AV and 840AV users:
  50. For best results you will need to be running the latest version of Apple's system software that pertains to your configuration - at least system 7.5.1.

Power Macintosh, 840AV, or 660AV users should be certain that their hard drives are formatted with up to date drivers that fully support asynchronous drive I/O.  Macromedia recommends using the driver from CharisMac Engineering in their Anubis formatting utility.  Symptoms of not having async-compatible drivers include slow user interface response, decreased track count, and "Disk too slow" messages.

Power Macintosh users should know that the "Analog Input Level" sub-menu is controlling an input pre-amp (you are increasing the level of the signal) whereas on other machines where this item is available it is controlling an input attenuator (you are decreasing the level of the signal). Power Macintosh users should set this to zero.
